Hello Families!
My name is Kaitlin Stone and I am the Drama and Stagecraft teacher at Waukesha North High School. This year marks my 5th year at North, and I am so excited to have all of your students this year! Now that I have gotten to know your students a bit and they have learned about me and my classes, I thought I would introduce myself to all of you and fill you in on whats happening here in the Drama Department. Throughout the year, I will use this blog to share out a class newsletter as well as to document things going on in my classroom, so be sure to check your emails occasionally for updates!

About Me.
I was born and raised in Waukesha, Wisconsin and am so happy to be teaching back in my hometown. I received my Batchelor's Degree in Musical Theatre Performance from Columbia College Chicago, and have a Master of Arts in Teaching in Theater Education from the Savannah College of Art and Design in Georgia. This is my 7th year teaching overall, and I am proud to be a part of the Northstar family! At North, I also direct three main stage productions a year as the Drama Club advisor. Theater and teaching young students about the arts is my passion and I hope to continue teaching for many years to come!

Please take specific note of the following portion of the grading policy in the syllabus:
- Formative Assessments: 0%
- Formative Assessments include class work and weekly build progress/skills assessments.
- Summative Assessments: 100%
- Summative Assessments include the final product of a set build within their given crew. The weekly build progress/skills assessments will be taken into account when determining a student’s contribution to the final product and their final grade.

Therefore, students must actively participate and contribute to each set build on a daily basis, and complete required written assignments for the week.. If a student does not actively demonstrate their knowledge of set construction skills, they cannot receive a summative grade for that build.
- A weekly build reflection is required to receive credit for the work completed in class each week. If a student does not complete a build reflection for each week by the assigned due date, they will receive an IE in the grade book for that week.
- Summative build assessments cannot be made up due to the scope of work involved. Therefore, if a student does not complete 70% of the formative weekly build assessments, they will not receive credit.
