Stagecraft
Stagecraft students are excited to have officially started the set build for our Fall play, Blithe Spirit!
Students get to work in peer-led crews by veteran students, getting to explore set building, scenic painting, costume design, lighting design, prop design, and publicity design. We will be working in these crews for the next 5 weeks until the Fall play opens on November, 10th at 7:00pm. At this point, students are also working on their next Summative portfolio, the 📓 BSSB1: Blithe Spirit Set Build Portfolio. Each week, students document their progress through photos and reflection questions. They will also be receiving a weekly crew work Formative grade, so make sure to check in to see their progress. At the end of the build, students will have a Summative 1:1 conference with me to assess goals and areas of growth before entering the build for our Winter musical, "The Wedding Singer" (yes, like the Adam Sandler movie!). So far, I have been extremely impressed with the initiative and creativity shown within the crews, and can't wait to see their growth throughout the year! |
Drama II
Drama II students finished their first performances of the year just the other week, with great success! It was awesome to see this group on stage and performing again. Here are some shots from their performances:
Now, students have gotten started on one of their favorite projects of the year, the student written and directed scenes inspired by a popular horror/thriller author or short story. Some of this year's inspiration have been drawn from Coraline, The Telltale Heart, Frankenstein, and Anabelle!
While Drama III students write, the Drama II students have been practicing monologue and audition techniques, learning how to choose pieces that are the best fit for any specific audition. Next Monday the Drama II students will audition for the Drama III's and then we will begin student led rehearsals!
