Hello Drama and Stagecraft Families!
Since December has flown by, I figured we would just do one update for the month. Here is what we have been working on!

DRAMA CLUB | Drama Club has been hard at work preparing for our Winter musical, "The Wedding Singer" (yes, like the Adam Sandler movie!) and having an absolute blast taking a trip to 1985. This year, we also have an affordable fundraising opportunity for local businesses or individuals, as we will be selling advertising space in our show programs. Please see the attached letter HERE (and photo below) for more details on how you can purchase ad space and help us raise money towards new microphones for our auditorium. The cast and crew have been making great progress this month and we can't wait for you all to see the show February 9-12! Tickets for the musical sell fast, so make sure to go online to nortstarplayers.ludus.com to reserve your seats today! |
DRAMA I
In Drama I, we finished our pantomime performances and have moved onto a full scene study. This is the first time students will practice using character movement techniques and vocal techniques at the same time. Students also learned how to fully annotate a script and complete a full character analysis, which will be graded as a SUMMATIVE portfolio (📓SS1: Scene Study & Character Analysis Portfolio on Google Classroom) along with the final performances, due at the end of the semester, so please make sure to check in with your student on their progress. Several have already been placed in JIT to get caught up, and I will continue to keep an eye on it after break.
After break, students will finish memorizing their scenes, and they will be performed as our semester exam in January. Photos to come!

STAGECRAFT
Stagecraft students started their research for our Winter musical, "The Wedding Singer" at the beginning of the month and learned about the elements of design and how these elements and techniques come together to help tell the story of a play. Students were then asked to show how they would use the elements of design in a crew of their choice. These 📓 DMR2: Musical Research and Design Portfolios were due 12/11 and will be graded over the break. Once research was completed, students jumped into their crews for the musical set build and have been hard at work since! |
DRAMA II/III/IV
This week, students are performing their student written and directed Spooky Scenes we have been working on since October. Last week directors costumed and added props and lighting to their scenes in preparations for performances this week. The directors are very excited to see their full vision come to life!
