DRAMA I
Drama I students finished up their first scene study performances at the end of first semester, and just auditioned for our whole class short fairy tale play this week. We started with the, "Do's and Don'ts of Auditioning" and a few days to prepare. For the rest of the process, they will be focusing on character development in the context of a play, as well as the rehearsal process and rehearsal etiquette, etc. My hope would be to have a final performance for my Drama II/III/IV students so they can practice giving feedback and analyzing directorial techniques!
STAGECRAFT
Stagecraft students have been hard at work for the last several weeks building and preparing for our musical. There have been no shortage of technical challenges, but they have handled them gracefully and done a lot of creative problem solving!
We are starting to see everything come together this week, and I hope to see many of you at the show!
As a reminder, Stagecraft students can see the show for the discounted "Kids" price, or for free if they help sell tickets and concessions the days of the show. DRAMA II/III/IV
Drama II students have started their favorite unit of the year, the Advance Improv unit. We have taken a different approach, letting the Drama III and Drama IV students be the scene facilitators for the Drama II groups practicing new "long form" games. The Drama II students are challenged to create fully developed characters and unscripted scenes that are 5 minutes or longer, while the Drama III and IV students guide and side coach them through the exercise. Each group was assigned a brand new long form improv game to research and practice that they will present to the class. We will then practice the various games and continue to mix up groups until the final performance of the advanced game of their choice.
